Calan tablets are designated for the treatments of the following:

ADMINISTRATION & DOSAGE
The dose of verapamil should be individualized by titration. Since a half-life period of increases in verapamil during chronic batching, the maximal reaction can be deferred. Full value and safety of the dosages exceeding 480 mg / day have not been fulfilled; therefore, this daily dosage should not be exceeded.
Essential hypertension: The usual initial doze of monotherapy on clinical experiments was 80 mg three times day (240 mg / day).
The doze must be individualized titration. Daily dosages of 360 and 480 mg were used, but there is no proof that dosages outside of 360 mg have provided the added effect. Hypotensive consequences Calan are obvious within the first week after therapy. Ascending titration should be based on therapeutic efficiency, has estimated at the end of an interval of batching. Consideration needs to be given a reason to beginning titration in 40 mg, to which three times day at patients which could answer to lower dozes, such as elderly or people of small height.
Arrhythmias: The dosage for preventive maintenance PSVT (non-digitalized patients) settles down from 240 till 480 mg / days in divided (t.i.d. or q.i.d.) dozes. Angina: 40 mg three times day can be guaranteed at patients with which can have the increased reaction to verapamil (for example, has reduced hepatic function, elderly, etc). Clinical experiments show, that a usual doze - 80 mg to 120 mg three times day. The dosage can be increased in daily (for example, patients with changeable quinsy) or weekly intervals while optimum clinical reaction is not received. Ascending titration should be based on therapeutic efficiency, and safety has estimated later approximately eight hours after batching. |
